DLEV’S TURKEY DAY PICKS

By DLEV on November 26, 2009

Time for one of my favorite times of the year: Thanksgiving football. Although the spreads are very high for all three of this year’s turkey day games, I’m expecting the games to be a bit closer than a lot of people are predicting:

Green Bay Packers (6-4) vs. Detroit Lions (2-8)

The spread for this game is -12 in favor of Green Bay, but I still see the Packers winning this game quite easily. Aaron Rodgers has been absolutely on fire this year, and the Lions secondary is ATROCIOUS, as evidenced by Brady Quinn throwing for 304 yards and 4 TDs last week, so look for the Packers to put up 30 points or more in this game. I’m taking the Packers in this game and think they can cover the 12 point spread.

Oakland Raiders (3-7) vs. Dallas Cowboys (7-3)

The spread in this game is a stunning 14 points, which is very surprising given the Raiders’ win over the Bengals last week and the Cowboys barely holding on 7-6 against the lowly Redskins last week. The ‘boys should still win this game, but I think the Raiders can cover the huge 14 point spread.

New York Giants (6-4) vs. Denver Broncos (6-4)

Here’s a matchup of two reeling teams, but while the Broncos have lost their last 4, including getting destroyed by the Chargers last week, the Giants were able to defeat the Falcons in overtime to halt their slide. Look for the Giants to continue to get out of their slump, while the Broncos extend their losing streak to 5 games. I’m taking the Giants, even with the 7 point spread, and think they will win by 10 points in this Thursday night game.

Hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving and eats lots of turkey while watching lots of entertaining NFL football!
